What is Teen Inspired Project?

The Teen Inspired Project is Foothill Family’s targeted health education initiative supporting youth ages 15–19 in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys. By addressing rising concerns around teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Teen Inspired delivers culturally responsive education and resources directly to the communities who need them most.

Our work is rooted in community data and driven by collaboration—with young people, families, educators, and trusted local partners.

Who We Serve

We proudly focus our services in the cities of El Monte, South El Monte, La Puente, La Verne, Rosemead, and Pomona. These communities are home to nearly 30,000 teens ages 15–19—and each city brings its own unique strengths and challenges.
From neighborhoods with high housing burdens to communities with increasing STI and birth rates, our approach adapts to meet the evolving needs of each area.

What We’re Addressing

Teen Inspired works to reduce health disparities through evidence-based education on reproductive health, healthy relationships, and life planning.

Here’s what we’re seeing:

  • A 7.5% drop in STI cases since the start of the project

  • Major declines in teen birth rates in cities like El Monte, La Puente, and Rosemead

  • Ongoing need for intervention in cities like Pomona, where teen birth rates rose 25%

  • Disparities based on gender, with young women still disproportionately impacted by STIs

We turn this data into action—with tailored workshops, peer education, and honest conversations that meet teens where they are.

Why It Matters

For many teens in our service area, systemic barriers like poverty, housing instability, and limited access to care increase health risks. In cities like South El Monte, over 64% of households are considered housing cost burdened. And in Pomona, STI and teen birth rates remain among the highest in the region.

Teen Inspired is here to change that—by equipping young people with accurate information, trusted support, and the confidence to make empowered decisions.
