Foothill Family Celebrates 100 Years with VIP Birthday Gathering Honoring Generations of Support
Longtime partners, volunteers, and leaders reflect on a century of community impact
PASADENA, CA – Music, laughter, and stories from decades past filled a private golf club as Foothill Family commemorated its 100th birthday with a special VIP celebration recognizing the individuals whose dedication has helped sustain the organization across generations.
The evening brought together past and current board members, volunteers, longtime donors, civic leaders, and community partners for a gathering that felt both celebratory and deeply personal. Guests greeted familiar faces, connected with new supporters, and reflected on how the organization has grown while remaining grounded in its mission of uplifting families.
Festivities began with a spirited reception featuring live music, roaming entertainment, portrait opportunities, and photo moments that captured the joyful atmosphere as guests shared memories and milestones from Foothill Family’s history.
Board Chair Dr. Laurel Bear welcomed the audience and introduced a tribute honoring the organization’s journey since its founding in 1926. Chief Executive Officer Steve Allen followed with remarks recognizing the many individuals whose leadership and generosity helped shape Foothill Family into a trusted resource for children and families throughout the region.
A highlight of the evening came when ten former Foothill Family board chairs were invited to the stage and presented with commemorative gavel plaques in recognition of their leadership. As applause filled the room, leaders from different decades stood together, symbolizing the continuity of care and commitment that has guided the organization for a century.

Former Presidents of Friends of Foothill Family were also acknowledged during the program, honoring the volunteers whose advocacy and service have played a vital role in building awareness and community support.
The celebration also featured congratulatory remarks from Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio and Assembly member John Harabedian. They joined Allen and Bear as a towering Foothill Family birthday cake was rolled into the room and guests joined together to sing “Happy Birthday.” The ceremonial cake cutting marked the official beginning of the organization’s centennial year.
Another meaningful moment came with the presentation of the “Donor of the Century” recognition to philanthropist Priscilla Hunt, whose longstanding generosity has helped expand access to counseling, early childhood education, and family support programs that strengthen opportunities for children and families.
The evening concluded with a toast celebrating both Foothill Family’s legacy and the road ahead. Former staff members were acknowledged, volunteers were thanked, and guests raised their glasses together in honor of the next century of service.
“For one hundred years, this work has been sustained by people who chose to care for their community,” said Allen. “Seeing so many faces from the past and present in one room reminds us that the mission belongs to all of us, and the next chapter begins together.”
