PASADENA, Calif. The Friends of Foothill Family, the volunteer guild supporting Foothill Family Service, gathered for its annual luncheon at a private club on September 20. New members of the guild were welcomed by 2013-14 President Michele Canon, who accepted the leadership reins from Past President Jennifer Allen.
Foothill Family Service Chairman of the Board Michael Buchanan introduced Foothill’s CEO, Steve Allen, who joined the agency at the beginning of September. Allen introduced guest speaker Jennifer Ang, Foothill’s lead Early Head Start Program Home Visitor. Ang shared a heartfelt story about a toddler-age client who has benefitted greatly from home visits and therapy sessions to address his developmental delays during the past two years.
Next, Canon announced the new Friends of Foothill board chairs, who in turn shared information about the many programs and events that will take place in the coming year. These include the upcoming Adopt-A-Family program and the 2014 Brighter Futures Benefit, which was showcased via a colorful video presentation to explain the modern and bright gala theme that embraces Foothill’s mission of building brighter futures.
Friends member April Danz also took the mic to share her enthusiasm for the Wine Women & Shoes Fundraiser that Foothill has in the works for October 23 at the Maxwell House, encouraging everyone to bring friends and family out for an exciting evening of wine and food tastings, shopping, auction and more.
